ASSISTED ADOPTION: My dog has lived here in Idyllwild since I adopted him from a San Diego area shelter 3 1/2 years ago.
He is Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog. 5 1/2 years old. Energetic, smart, friendly. And he’s definitely a mountain dog. He loves the trails. He would not do well living the city life, as I will soon be doing.
Mookie weighs in at 46 lbs., is house trained, and alerts to go outside as needed.
He is friendly with other dogs, loves to play & interact, yet is frightened of them
until they meet, preferably off leash. He has been attacked by other off leash dogs while he is leashed out on trail hikes. The memory persists.
I do not know his relationship with cats.
He’s been the love of my granddaughter’s life…and enjoys & allows her complete, hands on, full body interactions with him.
He has an alert bark, as well as a persistent “come and play with me” bark.
Getting much better about curbing the indoor sounds also.

Mookie is a 5 and 1/2 yr old rescued border / Aussie cattle dog mix. I adopted him from a shelter in San Diego Co. He had lived in shelters for his first full 2 years when I got him.

While I was able to take my registered service dog with me on the move to the city, unfortunately, Mookie needed to stay behind.
My home was leased to a woman who felt she could care for Mookie right there on the property to alleviate more disruption. It seemed the best solution available. At the time.
She has just informed me she is unable to care for this dog, or any dog, due to certain job requirements.
Mookie needs a new placement. He loves to interact with other dogs. Although he has had trauma from being attacked while on leash by other off-leash dogs, he is playful and greeting of dogs, especially when both are off leash.

This is Era who is 20 months old. This sweet girl is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Era likes dogs, children, and going for walks (she is good on the leash). Two, adorable, young dogs found a while back. They are young, approximately 6 months (Chihuahua mix) and 9 months (mini Boxer) respectively. They are a very bonded pair, as evidenced by the photos. I've had a lot of dogs in my life and these are two of the sweetest and happiest I've ever encountered. They stick to you like Velcro and are supreme cuddlers. They get along with our existing dogs extremely well, no aggression whatsoever. It's our dogs that are the problem. They are all elder (9-11), and just aren't too hospitable.
These two boys have a lot of tail wagging energy. They are partially house trained and I'm sure that would improve with neutering. However, the new owner will need to work with them on this. For the record, we named them, Chip (Chihuahua) and Ernie (mini Box), after the two younger boys on "My Three Sons", lol! They could still have their names changed, but they are quick learners. One very special aspect of them is how they lock eyes with you in a very soul searching manner. It's like they understand what you're saying. The react to their reflection in a mirror and will look at and follow TV, it's a trip! I love these two, but we just can't keep em😫.

Let's find this FABULOUS dog a forever home! ARF is working with a rescue to find a very lucky family to add Delta to their home. Delta is amazing. She is 7-8 year-old spayed German Shepherd that is fully-vaccinated, given preventatives (heartgard & nexgard), has a clean bill of health via veterinary labs, her nails are trimmed, and she is microchipped. Delta is phenomenal with children, 100% house trained, loves car rides (car trained), loves the outdoors, is indifferent to cats, and wonderful with other dogs.

All of these cats were well loved. They need a quiet home to live in for their senior years.

This dog's guardian has moved into a health facility and cannot take her along. Artemis, female, is 1.8 years old, spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is housetrained, becoming good on a leash, and of a high energy level. She is a fast learner, treat motivated, and eager to learn. Artemis is good with cats, kids, and other dogs, and being a Husky, she barks to alert and when playing.
